Bobby's Back!
This just in, former standout Husky Hockey goaltender Bobby Goepfert has signed a contract with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers. Goepfert (SCSU alum '05-'07) spent last season with Hamburg in the German Elite League and lead his team in goals average against and save percentage. Bobby was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2002 NHL draft and was the starting goaltender for the U.S. at the World Junior Hockey Championships in 2003 (where he was arguably the best goalie at the tournament). While at SCSU, Goepfert was a Hobey Baker Award finalist for NCAA Player of the year in 2007. Bobby Goepfert still holds SCSU records for best save percentage (.924) and best goals average against (2.24) and is one of the absolute best goalies to ever play for the Huskies.
