Which Playoff Misses Could Turn into Hits?

Recently, over at NHL.com, they have been featuring teams that did not make it into the playoffs last year. The articles are split into Western teams and Eastern teams. The article highlights each teams finish last year, off season changes, and why they could have a chance at making it into the playoffs.

The Minnesota Wild were featured as one of the Western Conference misses of last year that could make it to the playoffs this year. The site lists key acquisitions like former SCSU player Matt Cullen and possible breakout performances from Havlat and Bouchard as some reasons why they might make it back to the playoffs. We can also expect continued efforts from Koviu, Brunette, and Backstrom to help lead the team back to the playoffs.

On the Eastern front, NHL.com lists one of the reasons the Tampa Bay Lightning could return to the playoffs because of their "strong top six". Former SCSU player Ryan Malone is cited as one of those top six players on a line with Lecavalier and Gagne.

Glad to see our alumn's being featured on NHL.com!
